Hi Darcie and Welcome...

I bet you love your Oscar friend already!

Welcome Darcie,

So I'm assuming this was an 'impulse' buy? What did you put him in when you got home?

Hallo and welcome to OFL!

You came to the right place.
I wondered too, if this was an impulse buy...?
For getting an oscar that way is done quite a lot, but needs some special extra daily care ,as in waterchanges, in the first 6 weeks, while you cycle the tank.
But all the info you need is on the site, and if you have any questions, just fire away.
we'll be happy to try and answer them for you.

but you may be into fishkeeping allready, so please let us know!

Welcome to our little community

Did the shop tell you that these fish can reach in excess of 12 inches?

It was over 2 weeks ago when I first saw him and paid for him there n then so he couldn't be sold , brought him home yesterday after all the water tests gave great readings

I have been reading the forum since and the Aquatics shop owner has given me some tips
so although im a novice to fish keeping I have done my homework

I have a Jewul Trigon tank which was told it was ample for an Oscar

No panic, just curiosity!
did you have any fish in the tank, while you were waiting to take him home?
That wouldt be nescesary, to get your cycle complete.
another thing is, that cycling the tank may take upto 6 weeks.
was your tank allready running before those 2 weeks?

Hi Again

Now I feel like a complete novice and idiot

I was advised by the aquatics shop owner that it once my tank was up n running for a week or so , and I took a water sample in to be tested and all the reading were fine that is was ok to bring him home , I took a water sample in after 2 weeks and he said its great, home time for Oscar

Please tell me my Oscar is going to be OK , Ive tested the water since and still great readings , he is very happy swimming about n giving me them baby eyes for more food that he is not gonna get lol

Any advice will be very much welcomed xx
