hi all, about to finish the setting up of my new tank. I thought i would just quickly pop in and introduce myself and hopefully learn a lot from everyone here. My tank size is 150 x 50 x 45 centimeters and holds about 337.5 litres. I am hoping to put 2 x tiger and 2 x albino oscars, 3 x bala sharks and a pleco into the tank. My filter is self designed and has 3 canisters all interlinked (photo's will follow soon). If you would be able to help with regards to the amount of fish i want to place into the tank, i would greatly appreciate it, as some people say it is fine and others say it is too much.

Welcome to OFL, glad to have you here. First of all, there is no where your tank is big enough for four Oscars. I would recommend putting no more than one Oscar in a tank your sides. I'll be very interesting to know who said it would be okay. Remember Oscars can reach sizes in excess of 12 inches, and two pounds in weight, that's not a small fish. When you're keeping fish like this, tank size is absolutely paramount, it's no point having excellent filtration if you can't provide enough space for them.

i agree with ofl with size of tank i would only go with one oscar and maybe one or two small tankmates

Thanks for your help on the above questions, my next question for you is this... Is it possible to only have two oscars and a pleco and nothing else in the same tank?

your tank works out to about 75 gals which is fine for one oscar. imo two o's would be really pushing it.plecos have a bad habit of growing really big(2'or so)depending on the kind. if your heart is set on more than one oscar perhaps you might consider a bigger tank(100gals +).
