Greetings from the Dutch Island Of St.Maarten in the Caribbean. I am wondering if any of you guys can point me in the right direction in purchasing a large tank 200Gal plus +. Where I live you cant find any tanks larger than 70Gal anything bigger has to be imported out of the U.S. I searched online but I cant find much. I was hoping that one of you could point me to a web site or a contact to help me find it.

I noticed some pics on the forum with guys with tanks around 230 gal

Great website BTW!! I've been an avid freshwater fish keeper for most of my life. I currently have a 100Gal. tank housing 9 premium Japanese Koi, but I would I need to get the Koi out of there in a couple months. So I will then use the larger tank to house the Koi and then get 2 Oscars for my 100Gal tank.

Any help in the matter will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading

Welcome to oscarfishlover esexem! From the not so sunny these days Caribbean -active Hurricane Season we got!

Unfortunately, if you plan to purchase a tank abroad it must be acrylic, since just the weight of a tempered glass tank this size would easily brake it during transportation. An experienced UPS manager, who is also a fishkeeper, gave that information -He said any tank bigger than 20Gal would make no sense in shipping (by plane) since it would collapse under its own weight.

Why not building the tank yourself? You could purchase the frames abroad, and get tempered glass at any local glass shop. Any glass technician could do the work of cutting the glass and with some help -this cannot be done by one single individual- you could have your custom made tank in a few days.

I agree, this site is great
