Well guys I've been waiting for almost 8 weeks to find someone in Florida who was willing to ship some oscars down to me in the Caribbean. They finally arrived today and boy they look great. I bought 4 of em and I have them in a 50Gal (there just about to be 2" long) at the moment (i have a 100Gal for there future home). I bought 4 cause I want them to pair off so hopefully i can get a nice couple out of the four. My question is how soon will you physically "see" the pairing off process?? If you guys are wondering what i will do with the others, dont worry i found homes for them also lol.

Since i live on a 37 square mile rock, recources are always limited. I was told that I can feed my oscar koi pellets? The only food locally i can find is TetraCichlid mini granules. I have a koi pond so koi food is always available so i am hoping that i can feed them this. Any other suggestions on what to feed them when I cant find proper food for them on the island??

Well thanks for reading and I love this website.

PS: Im in the process of building a 800 Ply/Acrylic Gal Megatank, if you guys would like some blueprints of this let me know and I can post it.

Regards,

One Love

Hello from... the same sunny Caribbean!
Hi esexem, glad you got your Oscars.
As far as food, they are omnivorous, so there are little restrictions foodwise other than they accepting them. There are creative ways of preparing food for them, from beef heart to veggie treats, just search or ask around.
What type of Oscars you got?

Good luck with the 800gal tank project.

welcome to Oscar fish lover

They won't start pairing off until they become sexually mature. You're probably going to have to wait for more than a year before this happens
