Hello and welcome to the site. 55g isn't large enough for more than one Oscar so a fight for space will occur. mixing fish breeds is always risky and even the same breed sometimes don't work out. you need to decide if the fighting is going to do your Oscar harm. if yes you need to re home one or the other. if its miner you could wait a few days to see if things calm down.

marcus is right.... space limitation make them aggressive
for territorial supremacy. how many fishes are there in
your tank? what kind & capacity of filtration do you have?
overstocking is prone to problem. it requires a lot of works
to keep the system under control.

Thankyou guys. Things have calmed down alot. all my fish are getting along great. I do know that in time we will definitly need a bigger tank, we are saving for it now. I am new to oscars however my boyfriend is not. i have bee doing my share of research though. I read that they are aggressive but i have a very handicapped molly in the tank and the oscars are so loving and caring of him, i am totally mind boggled over it. maybe its just because right now they are only 1 inch big? i look forward to any advice and tips that anyone is willing to share.

while there is not problem yet, i suggest you run through some threads here. you can get very informative ideas and approached in keeping oscars. people in this forum do their oscar keeping scientifically but do accept unconventional ideas that may have works with others.

Yeah, the best thing for an oscar(s) is space. Thanks to the site, I got some good advice and narrowed down my choices of fish so I don't get too crowded. I settled for 1 oscar, 1 blue acara and 3 pictus catfish for my 75 U.S. gallons. If for some reason I can't buy my dream tank in 12 to 24 months. These guys should live happily in this tank.

Space and good filters are the way to go. You can't have too much of either.
75 gallon - 1 albino tiger, 1 blue acara, 3 pictus catfish, 3 silver dollars & 1 candy-stripe pleco.

20 gallon - planted tank.

i have to agree with the majority on this one. a 55 us gallon tank is not large enough to house an oscar and a couple of jacks for life. for this stock list i think something in the 90 us gallon range would be more appropriate. oscars can grow to 14 inches and jacks can get to the 10 inch mark.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!
