Hi eveyone,

this is a great fourum ive been investigating it for a couple of days now.

Im new to the world of Oscars myself though not new to keeping fishies.

I currently have 3 tanks, one with a male siamese fighter, one with 5 female fighters and another with all sorts of tropical fishies in it.

But enough of my waffle I will get to the point I love Oscars always have since my dad kept them and have decided to get some. However advice is much needed the thing is I want 4 no less!! Ive found pleantifull advice on tank size etc for one or two but not alot on four. Does anyone out there have an idea as I want to do this right, thanks.

welcome to the forum four adult 15" O,s will require a lot of water i would say upwards of 200 uk gallons NO LESS and probably 2 fx5,s to sustain any decent water quality but one fx5 may do the job with regular water changes juveniles dont need half that much but after 1 year they will be not far off adult size fish so getting 200 gal + tank at the start will save you a lot of coin down the line .........see if the others agree or suggest something different ??but thats my honest opinion ...hope this helps

welcome to the site.
i concur with biggamehunter. in addition to that,
at 200 gal size, you can add several small tankmates
like silver dollar, or angel fish from the start. tank
mates should be introduce from the start to avoid being
treated as intruder if added later.

welcome to the site.

if all you want in your tank is 4 oscars you will be able to get away with a 200 imp gallon tank. however if your looking at 4 oscar and some other fish you will problably have to go bigger like 300 imp gallons. for either set up i would recoommend an fx5 along with a sump filter in the 60-75 gallon range.

even with the big tanks it is not a certainty that they all will get along when they are mature. there can alway be problem with aggression due to territory or dominace. just something to think of.

good luck with whatever you decide.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

Welcome to the site, If its Oscar advice you are after, you have come to the right place. I totally agree with the above. These are large, messy and territorial fish and would need a very large tank and even then there could be aggression issues. But I can understand wanting four Oscars, They are awesome creatures.
180 UK gallon - Central American Cichlids
75 UK gallon - South American Cichlids
30 UK gallon - South American community
25 UK gallon - Hospital/ Quarantine Tank.
