Hello all


I have a 5ft tank I'm setting up and need advice.

Currently I have

1x Oscar
2x Geophagus Brasiliensis *Picked up free from lady down road*
1x Sucky Cat Fish
1x Blue Acura

These are housed in a smaller tank while I set the 5ft up. All are only small atm.

I want to add a Flower Horn,Red Devil and a spotted Placo the local shop said this will be ok but others say no so please help me out.

They are all only young and small atm and will be growing up together.Any other advice is great Want some colour in the tank.

Also what is a good Canister filter for the tank its approx 400L
I have read on a US forum that Fluval FX5 is great?

yes FX5 is top of the line, worth what you are gonna
paying for.

my only concern is the flowerhorn. it is usually become
dominant and hostile to otehr specie when full grown. adding
more fish to your 5 ft tank will compromise the space and water
parameters in the long run. happy fishkeeping usually goes with
enough space for its inhabitants. just my 2 cents ideas.

hello and welcome. Red devils are very aggressive too. and as pointed out your tank is only 5ft. the fish you mention grow to fairly large size.

imho if you add a flowerhorn and devil to your current stock list you will eventually have tank containing only a flowerhorn

Thanks for the warm welcome And thanks heaps for the advice.Bit lost now as to what fish I want to get.Want some colour in the tank...Any advice what fish would go well?

So neither the Flower or Red Devil will go? Dam just as well I didn't buy them yet.

A friend likes my Geophagus Brasiliensis so I might let him take them.Atm they are silver do they get any other colours?

Any other Australians know a good place to get the FX5?

Age Of Aquariums said they will beat any price by 10% so that looks the go.
