Well, since I have never really introduced myself lol. Here I am, I haven't kept fish since college, and got back into the hobby last around the July time frame. From South Dakota, so don't have a whole lot of options when it comes to LFS etc. but I am doing the best I can for my feeshies. LOL...Anyways, my current stock/tank list is, the 157 I DIY'd, has 2 Oscars, 1 Small male Convict, and 1 Sailfin Pleco. The 55 Gallon currently has 4 Small Angels, 5 Glowlight Tetra's, 1 Neon Tetra (4 Croaked, bleh walmart fish) and 3 Giant Danio's. I got all them from Walmart, so after being in the 55 for a Month or so to make sure they are all healthy and happy. The Danio's will be moving into the 29 with the Single con. Which leads me to the 29. Has one Larger Male Con (think he is crossed with something since when I got both the con's they were a little less than an inch, the larger one exploded in size and is now almost 3 times the size of the other one. Same water parameters, same feeding etc...) and the 29 also has two Large Giant Danio's. That's about it, other than the empty 20 Gallon sitting in the dining room, not sure if I am going to put something else in it or turn it into a sump for something. We will see!!

Who would ever have thought that you could buy tropical fish at Walllmart of all places. Here in NJ they also have small aquaria depts. and fish for sale too and I have seen some pretty nice fish at Wallmart. Go figure...

Just too bad that 90% of Wal-Mart fish die due to horrible conditions at the store. All the other fish in that tank seem to be doing well tho. I think one of the Danio's has some wierd type of disease I need to figure out and get treated. He seems to be doing fine otherwise other than his misshapen body...we will see how it goes tho.

Mis-shaped bodies usually don't come back and that could even be a birth defect. By me here in NJ, there are lots of Pet stores around and most have abysmal conditions in their fish tanks. It's a real crap shoot and there are times I swear they almost contain more dead and dying fish then they do healthy ones. I only recently discovered Fish at Wallmart and the other night wanted to buy a grouping of Guppies but alas, no one there could find any bags whatsoever to place the fish into. I do have one store that is large and "fish only" but its a bit of a drive from me and higher "independent store" prices too. I dont mind the price necessarily as I understand the economics of owning a small independent store and I can appreciate the better care and health but what I mind is the drive, which is longer for the fish too on the way home. I'm going out later today, Wallmart and 2 to 3 pet stores shopping for both Feeder Guppy Parents as well as Zebra Danios for dither fish. Wish me luck.....

P.S. I bit the bullet and went directly to the better store this time, confident that I would come home with fish, which I did. Still no inexpensive Guppys but I came home with Guppys just the same and new dither fish for the oscars to chase around for a few weeks too. (10 blonde zebra danios - Fast ones!)
