well, my names john, im 26, ive had my oscar fish's about a year now, and my big boy TRiAD has grown up pretty nicely. i came here after i got "ick" from feederfish at walmart some 9 months ago and have been using this for a reference site. i finally got bored and registered. its been good so far. i finally got a decent camera and after 70000 bad pics i finally got one that didnt have camera flash or have the fish at a bad angle lol! nobody told me fish photography was hard!

that is what this hobby is known for.
you can be photographer, a person talking to the fish, smiling all alone, etc, etc but keeping your sanity intact.

nice oscar you have there. he/she look huge and healthy. no sign of HITH mark

thanks! its about 8" long, is that normal for a approx a year of growth, he was about 1.5" long when i got him??? i put 50 goldfish a week in his tank by the end of that week they are all gone. i supplement his food with jumbo pellets from hikari. have another oscar thats only maybe 6 months old that was 2" and is now 5-6" (orginally had two the same size but one somehow managed to jump out between the 1.5" gap between filter and lid and had to be replaced) , as well as a 10" pleco, and a pair of goldfish (feeders that just were too pro to get caught)
