Hi, hope all is well... People call me Tayles and I live in Sydney Australia.
Stumbled onto this site as I was researching oscars (by the way, great site!). I will be heading out to to buy my first tiger Oscar in I reckon a week, looks like my fishless cycle will finish soon. Ammonia cycling within 24hrs and I've had the nitrite spike for about 11 days now so hopefully soon. Previously I had a tropical community (4yrs) but due to a move I shut the tank down for a couple of months. Don't worry I was close to the aquarium store and he kindly took my fish.

So that's a little about me And I'll keep you posted, not sure how to upload photos from my iPad though..

Hi there, welcome to our little community. Good luck on your new Oscar, you will have to post photos for us to see. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. However, it sounds as if you know what you're doing if you have carried out a fishless cycle.

I may not always be right, but I am always the BOSS :-)

Hello and welcome to OFL. Re your frozen food thread.. I personally am not a fan of frozen products. Protein is low, and generally around 3/4 moisture content. You could do much better. Freeze drieds are far superior imo. FD krill is high protein and high fiber, all round good stuff for growing cichlids.

Thanks for the welcome guys... Supr thanks for the advise on the freeze dried, I wasn't sure on the freeze dried vs the Frozen. Sounds like the way to go less messy and if not more nutritious.

The thing to do first will be to get your new Oscar on a quality pellet. He may not want anything for a few days, getting settled and such, but important not to spoil him with tasty treats to soon.
