My Oscar is not moving its still alive but just still at the bottom of the tank. Things don't look good but is there anything I can do to help him. He did have a snail 2 days ago that I found from my other tank he was fine before that. Did my last water change 2 days ago. My tank is over stocked thanks to a pet shop error but I can't just watch him like this

Is this the Oscar with the lump? 80 nitrate is very toxic. You need to get under 20 and keep it there. 50% w/c daily.

While you are struggling with water quality, and since its already done, leave the tank barebottom. Fish may stress a bit with no deco, rock or 2, whatever you had. Substrate will trap waste, no harm in deco other than too much will take up swim space. High nitrate is the direct result of overstock and lacking water change. Overstock will also induce stress related health issues, even in a clean water tank

So waste in decor or substrate won't give off anything? If it don't make a difference I'll but it back tank is all scratched at the bottom. So if I do another 50% today what else will help? Nitrate is down to 60 today
