Just wanted to say hi to everyone..... especially the creators / owners of this magnificent site. well done to you.
I am relatively new to having fish as pets, I have always been a dog owner hehe
As I now live in China in an apartment, i thought i would like pets, but dogs are out of the question, so why not fish?
I purchased some Japanese goldfish first of all, then i spotted one of the most beautiful fish I have ever seen (Oscar) I did not know what he was and as I dont speak Chinese yet, I could not seem to make the shop owner understand when I asked what it was. I gestured to him to establish if it would fight with other fish ... he told me no ....... wrong. within days it had killed all the other fish in the tank, I separated him from the others a couple of times when noticing him charging them.
long story short, i tried other fish with him with the same result, rather than get rid of such a beautiful fish, I thought i would compromise, and get two more the same as him as company. Still not knowing what i had, only that they are sold everywhere here.
whilst researching different fish and going to various sites, I finally found out they are Oscar fish, so i looked up about the care and maintenance and found this site. the information I have found here is absolutely fantastic and I thank you very much for allowing me to join.
