Hi all...

Im a new member, but have been a long time reader.

Unfortunately my gold oscar which I have had for 5 years became bloated and had popped out eyes.

After failing to cure him through antibiotics I had to euthanize him following your procedure with clover oil on this forum.

Although it was sad to see him go, it was good that he died peacefully with the clover oil. I really love my fish.

Ive only ever had the two oscars in the tank which always laid eggs together but never hatched. They grew up together since they were 2 inches long.

My question is: What can I put in the tank to keep the other oscar company?

Or is it better he is by himself.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

hello and welcome to the boards ........firstly can you tell us the size of your tank and your filtration as the sad demise of your oscar may have been down to excess bioload ......cheers butty !!!!!!

sorry to hear about your loss and welcome to the site.

adding any new fish to an existing tank is a hit or miss thing. one of the biggest thing to look at is if your tank is large enough to house another mate or not. also the species you choose will have a big impact on this decision. if you can provide a few more details(tank size kind of tankmate ect..) on what you might be planning it would help in answering your questions.

I have a 6 foot tank, 2 foot high and a foot width.

I have the 2 hood filters that came with it, and a aqua nova external filter. 1500l/hr.

The oscar in it at the moment is the only fish in there and he is 10inches long.
