Hello,
My name is william and I live in park city, utah. I have recently set up my 80 gallon tank and as always, I will be planting oscars. It has been a tradition in my family to raise oscars, and we have been quite good at it. The question I have is how do you breed them? I am interested in breeding but do not know much about this subject, anyone know the tricks to this trade?
Thanks,
Will

There is plenty of information on the website regarding breeding

Before you can start breeding you need to make sure you've got a male and female. You would normally buy several Oscars and wait for them to pair off. Your tank really isn't big enough for two Oscars so this isn't an option. I honestly don't think it's feasible for you to enter into a breeding scheme as you're just not equipped properly.

Obviously if you feel that your tank is okay then you would have to try and find a male and a female. This may be possible if you buy one from a breeder, or somebody who already has a male and a female, that is the only way you're going to obtain a male and a female without actually buying several Oscars & waiting over a year for them to pair off.
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss

Thanks for your advise, I am looking in to buying a 300 gallon aquarium, so I will hold off on the breeding until then. The 80 is up and running and have had some clouding issues. Do you think it might be the beef heart I am feeding them. They love it but it seemed to get cloudy after I began feeding them. I have recently slowed the beef heart to just three times a week, and I am using cichlid sticks and pellets as their staple.
Thanks,
Will
