my names Tony and I've recently got myself another tank after having to leave my last one when we moved..

Ive got a 4x2x2 and plan to keep 2 oscars (a pair I am collecting tonight)

will perhaps put a small number of tank mates in, not sure what yet, but leaning towards clown loaches and a plec..

will post pics up when everything is settled down

all the best, and thanks for a great site..

Tony

Welcome to the site Tony

I have to say that you will be rather overstocked if you do go for all the fish that you have listed. Anyway, if you have any questions, somebody will have an answer for you I am sure

Hi and a warm welcome to OFL...

I have to agree. In my opinion that tank is a good size for 1 Oscar.

Welcome to OFL

This is where i disagree with others. A 100g tank would be fine with a couple of oscars and 3 or 4 SD's or clown loaches. I dont think you could have 2 oscars, SD's and clown loaches

thanks for the welcome everyone, much appreciated..

I had a few tanks in my past fish keeping life, mostly cichlids, bred a few, nothing serious really.. also had a few native wild caught species for a while.. it was a fish tank in most rooms lol..

i've always wanted oscars, the reason I got 2 is that they are a pair and I didn't really want to split them as they are (for now) happy together...

I agree the tank is on the small side for 2 oscars, but it isnt a necessity to have tankmates, and I think the filtration I have should keep them nice and happy...

I'll see how it goes, listen to advice, and no doubt as loads of questions..

thanks in advance

Tony

welcome to the site

the tank you mentioned is about 120 us gallons and should be fine for an "established pair" of oscars. and by established i mean a breeding pair.
i will agree with the others and say with a pair of o's your tank will not be large enough for tankmates.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

the oscars are now in, and they seem very happy.. they are eating and seem happy...

they are (i'm assuming) nowhere near maturity at about 5", so wont be a breeding pair i wouldnt have thought, maybe they're just good friends lol lol..

I was sold them as a pair, but as I'm new to oscars I just took it on face value that they were a couple as it were...

if it turns out its just them 2 then thats cool, tankmates are definately optional for me and not mandatory..

I suppose time will tell..

all the best

Tony

Hi again Tony

You know you could always add another tank for anything else you want. LOL, Be careful it quickly becomes an addiction!
