Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, obviously... I'm gonna be getting an Oscar on Friday. For the second time. Before I couldnt live with only 1 fish in a 55 gall. (Thinking bout doing a 20 Long sump for it)

Since then I've gotten another 55 gall, so now I can live with just one fish in the tank.

A little about me I'm from New Orleans, Louisiana, US. Currently live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, US. after Hurricane Katrina.

I love cichlids... Currently, I'm growing out some electric blue jack dempseys.

What you have got to remember is where as a sump will increase your water volume overall, it won't increase the amount of space your fish has to move around in. I still wouldn't put more than one Oscar in the 55 gallon tank, even if you have got a sump. That's only around a 4 foot tank, it just isn't big enough for two large Oscars

No, I am only going with one Oscar... But I was going to do the sump so I could maximize his tank space, and also since its good over filtration

I think having that extra filtration would be an excellent idea. Like they say, you can't have too much filtration when keeping Oscars, and that is really true
