hi everybody just want to say what a great site this is i have learned alot in just the last couple of days.

I tried feeding live shrimp once in a week but i still have not got the color as listed in the oscar sites,is it the genetic factor inherited by the parents if they are colorless the offspring will be colorless is it so,what other methods do u suggest me to give my oscar the best color enhancing food pls suggest me the good brand name for which these oscar can get there true color or can i sell it and go for a brand new oscar with a show quality as i am living in india

You have to feed your fish colour enhancing food a lot more than once a week if you want to see any change in their colour. I think it would be a good idea if you post a photograph of your Oscar so we can have a good look at it. Exactly what are you trying to achieve? To be perfectly honest with you, I don't have a lot of luck with colour enhancing foods when fed to my Oscars. You may also have a fish that you cannot improve on the colours. If you've got an albino Oscar for instance, they don't have a lot of colour pigments so you won't improve on a colour because it doesn't have any.

Welcome zcableguy I've only been here a short time myself but it has been a good experience so far. This is a good site with lots of useful info.

Colour enhancers can only(if they work) enhance colours. If the colour isnt there in the 1st place you cant enhance it. They supposedly make colours brighter

the best colour enhancing food imo is krill shrimps and prawns because the shells contain carrotine(i think thats how you spell it!!!) which brings out reds and oranges in fish.

i owned red bellied piranhas a few years back and fed them these and their bellies were really bright red,much better than the ones in the shop!
