TOPIC: Tank triangle (Jewel with O's)

Tank triangle (Jewel with O's) 2 years, 5 months ago #64518

I've got a 125 with 2 O's, Dempsey, and a pleco, a 55 with a breeding pair of convicts, and a 29 with a Jewel cichlid (took it out of the 55). So I was wondering what you people thought would happen if I put my jewel in the 125. He's about 3-3.5 inches long and very aggressive. My O's and Dempsey are 6 inches. There's a lot of hiding spots. I'm more worried about my Oscars getting beat up, but I'm wondering what you think.

I guess you know your own fish best and you say he's very aggressive...
couldn't predict what is gonna happen, but there may be trouble ahead.
Better wait for the experts, i never had any jewels.
If you decide to put him in, take time to observe their behaviour and be ready to take action if nescsary.
I trained my Aggressive Vieja by threatening to net him once, after he made my O knock himself out, and nobody messes mith my O!
After that if he bugs my o ,I take the net and just show it to him, and he will bounce back and stop misbehaving.

Of topic, can I see a picture of you with your cello, please???
If you post it, i'll show you mine.

welcome to the community!

i too have had an agressive pair of jewel ciclids well 2 males anyways, they were mean as hell. i mean they would go after my oscar when i moved them away from my delicate little dragonfish. as it happened, all the fish at the resturant my mom works at died... so i personally resetup their tank, and put mine in there. they are quite happy, i go do tank maintenence on them twice a month, and get paid 40 bucks each time i go. its a good deal

this is the tank i moved them to.

there are black tetras, blue and red dwarf gouarami, a pleco in there as well, its a 35. pretty soon they will be 5"-6" and need to come back to me lol.

Usually jewels are aggresive to fish smaller than themselves but not to bigger fish, however this is not always the case and some will bully bigger fish. Off course a breeding pair will have a go at bigger fish. Try putting them in with the oscar and keep an eye on things

well... it didn't work out, I put it in the tank and it was attacked by my tiger oscar. it's back in the 29 gallon for a little until I get my divider up in the 55
