got two new tiger oscars last week, right now in a 30 gallon, getting a 150 set up as we speak, got one gold fish in it, lol reading alot of this cycle thing. also have a red tail shark. looks like alot of great information on here,

i was also interested in live plants, but see that oscars and them dont really get along all that well. any personal experiance with this? what about number of oscars. alot of question i have to get answered, so ill heat to the forum

congrats on your new oscars. they should be alright in your 30 unitl the 150 cycles. as for how many oscars in a 150 i would only do 2 myself and a couple of mid sized tankmates.
as for live plants i have tried and failed miserably with them. my oscars just dont like plants i guess but you will not know until you try.

The 150 will be perfect for your Oscars. Just remember a HUGE filter!

Plants of any kind don't often work well in an Oscar tank. My Oscars tear up the plastic ones too. lol

As for your number of Oscars, it is always a wait and see game. I have great luck with 2 Oscars, but if you get 2 males it way be very rough going. You will just have to wait and see!

ive heard about a hump on the head or something to indicate male from female, any truth to that? also are oscar betters in numbers generally? there short plants, my tank is real tall so mabye they stay at the top lol

Oscars do not get the humps on their heads... There is no way to sex them accurately.

it is suggested that singles, twos, or 6 or more be kept.

Oscars will move everything in the tank to their liking... no matter how you put the stuff in there.

As for a filter i would look at a Fluval FX5, or something similar!
