Hello everyone,im new to this site!!! Ive got a 200lt tank with 1(6-7inch) tiger oscar,1 (5-6inch) black shark,1 (3-4inch) flying fox and 4 (4-5inch) silver dollars. All brought from babys, although the oscar was the last to be put in the tank only 6 months ago Ive got an over sized external filer fluval 305 running with no problems, the tank it self has been running for 2 years now. Ive done some research on oscars and i know my tank is over stocked, now the oscar is bigger!! but what fish do i let go the dollars, fox,or shark?? Thanks Chris.

Hiya Chris, and welcome to OFL... as you said you are a bit overstocked, and the correct answer would be to get rid of some fish...

however, if you keep your water quality tip top, do regular water changes and plenty of tank maintenance I dont see why you cant carry on as you are until either aggression of something else means you HAVE to get rid of fish...

now please dont take this as the difinative answer, becuase I know others will think I'm mad, but this is what I would do...

all the best

Tony

Hi and welcome to the site

Unfortunately your tank is around 44 gallons which is not big enough for an adult Oscar, not counting any of the other fish you have at the moment. If you want to keep your Oscar & a few of the other fish I would seriously consider upgrading your tank as soon as possible

Thanks for info. The only trouble i have is the oscar and the shark at feeding time they both as agressive to each other but apart from that the leave each other alone. I must admit i do like the shark as much as i like the oscar so if i did have to take fish out it would probably be the siver dollars. Could try and persude the wife for a bigger tank tho!!

welcome to the site

i agree with ofl your tank is too small for your present stock list
my suggestion would be to get a larger one for all of them or rehome all the rest and keep the oscar........
