Cheers, Jacky
At the moment I feed mine three times a day. Once in the morning about 6 to eight med. size pellets. Once in the afternoon about 15 to 20 med. size pellets soaked in a vitimin supplement. Once in the evening 6 to 8 freeze dried shrimp or krill. Occasionally I give him live crickets and earthworms when I find them. All of this is gone in a matter of a couple of minutes at each feeding and he's usually looking for more.
I feed mostly Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets which are available in different sizes to fit O's from small to large. I also use Omega one freeze dried shrimp. Hikari freeze dried krill. My O doesn't care much for veggies but alot of people do peas. You can feed them shrimp, prawns, and a host of other food.
Some people use feeders but I don't care much for that you run the risk of transmitting a disease to your O unless you raise the feeders yourself and even that can be risky. Besides I think it's cruel (just my opinion).
At the moment I have just one O he's about 9" and is in a 55gal. I will be moving him to a 125gal in a month or so at which time I may try to add a second O but I'm not sure yet because that creates a whole new set of problems.
Here's a pic of my guy about a month ago.
