Hi great site.I have just got myself 2 tiger oscars.
they were pretty small when i got them bout month ago.
the thing is one is totally getting really big
the other is not so fast at growing. They both love blood worms but when i give them hikari gold pellets, only the big one will eat them.Wee one wil only eat blood worms.
They are in a 55gallon jewel vision tank.Oh almost 4got this morning when i turned the light on i noticed very small white worms crawling up fronmt of glass.Any ideas?should i be worried?I could not bare anything happening to my oscars.

cheers great site

Welcome to the site. Firstly, the worms sound like planeria which are free-living parasites that normally get into a tank on live plants etc. The rule of thumb is that if the parasites are not on your fish, they shouldn't cause any harm. These type of parasites can be difficult to eradicate. You normally had to strip the tank and filtration down completely which obviously means recycling the tank again. Just try and harvest them when they get too much. You could try increasing the temperature to 30°C, this may also help get rid of them but don't hold your breath.

Okay, unfortunately your tank is only big enough for one Oscar. It isn't unusual for Oscars to grow at different rates, some will stay smaller than others. Also, Oscars can be very fussy eaters. You could try starving the one that won't eat pellets and just feed the other one, you'll probably find that in time, he will start eating pellets.

If you keep both in the small tank you are going to end up having more trouble with illnesses, maintenance, aggresive fighting ect and that is no fun & not fair to the Oscar.

once your oscar gets a new home he will very quickly get attached to his new owner or tank mates so the way i see it its a win win situation for both you and your oscar.
DONT BUY ON IMPULSE DO SUM HOMEWORK FIRST

Welcome to OFL!

Well the others covered it up for you already. It's not so easy to give fish away, but you won't regret it in the long run.
