Hi Folks,

I have two young Oscars. One a Red about 4 inches and a Tiger about 3 inches. I've had them for about two and a half years. They were always best of buds the smaller always seemed to protect the larger. Now just yesterday the smaller one is kicking the crap out of the red. Is this breeding behavior? The red looks to be in rough shape, he or she is basically lying down and taking it with no aggression back to the tiger. Any insight would be appreciated.

the size and age don't add up? are you sure you have oscars

Midget Oscars.. or as they prefer to be called Little Fish.. But assuming we have oscars that are that old it could be breeding issues, for one of them anyway. You may have to seperate them.. Keep an eye on it.

Absolutely, they are Oscars, the smaller size is due to the tank size. They are in a 29 gallon. I have not been able to move up in tank size due to Financial issues. Thanks.

Interesting.. I knew tank size can effect growth but that is way small for a 2 yo.

I agree but unfortunately that is the hand I have been dealt. The red is eating and doing normal lay down behavior but, i am afraid that a shot to the gills from the tiger will totally kill her or him...

twice a day...I can see everyone is getting a chuckle out of the size but please can i have an answer to my question?
