hey all im matt, im from uk. recenly got my self a couple of oscars after seeing my friends oscar which is about 10inch long eating. im not new to fish keepin, i've kept tropical and marine fish before, i just happend upon a very cheap tank setup and had to get back on it.

after seeing my friends oscar eating small gold fish and crickets i think i fell in love, i cant wait to ge home from work every day now to see my fish, i've had them now for 2 just over 2 weeks and even i can see they've grown. i;ve just been feeding them a mix of pellets in the morning and cubes of frozen bloodworm, but i have a cup i use only for defrosting the blood worm with some of thier water. i find they both get a prety equal share, instead of one getting most of the food and the other getting scraps.

when i was much younger i was once told a hungry fish is a happy fish, these little terrors seem to be hungry all the time. also the plants i put in are growing ferociously (sp) so in a couple of months there maybe some cutings available if any one is interested.

welcome to ofl, nice to have another matt from the uk!!

also good chocie in choosein oscars u def wont regret it, just make sure u dont give yours too many live feeders especially now as their small, they have very very little nutritoinal value and pellets should really be the staple of yr oscars diet. but mix it up as much as poss and trya nd keep feeders as somthing live monthly treat! (sure u knew all that anyway as yr not new to fish keeping, but just making sure as you may not have had oscars before)

thanks for that, las time i kept tropical fish, they were quite uneventful. boring really. they ate flakes and wouldn't touch anything else i can remember wha they were, im not even bothered about trying to explain them or find a picture lol.

i'll keep em on pellets and slow down on the frozen bloodworm untill the pack runs out. i;ve read some where that earth worms are good to feed em? well i was thinkin (as i've been a fisherman for many years) could i not feed them some maggots? if you go into the bait shop and ask for "just a hand full" they'll usually give u for free thats what i used to do for my koi carp.
