Hello!

I think iv read just about everything I can on this website including a good portion of the forums themselves to answer questions I might have. My fiance and I have been speaking about getting Oscars for some time now. He used to have one, and it lived a good 6 years or so till its accident one day. His story shortened, while he was at work his fishy friend somehow managed to thump the rock off the top of the aquarium lid and escorted himself on to the floor. (*frown*)

He has done alot of research and knows the basics, I myself am very new to fish, having only gotten my first 10 gal 5 or 6 months ago, (till then iv only housed Betta's) I am excited to the Oscar tank we have been planning. We have a 125 gallon tank picked out, and an idea on what kind of Oscar's we want. We plan on getting two, to share the tank with a placo (Rino Pleco) I got from a pet store who denied to tell me how big he will get in general. Though I should thank them its because of there lack of information that has me going overboard on research on all my fish and Oscars now. hehe

I will have some pictures of my Rino Pelco, Named Ironhide, up soon and I guarantee Ill have plenty of questions soon enough if I cant find the answer. Such as proper ways to cycle that large of a tank before putting fish in and yadda yadda. My little tank needed starter fish, would you use Oscars as the starter fish? maybe some goldfish and let the Oscars eat them later? HA! funny!

In all seriousness im glad I found this site it helped me understand a lot I didn't, and I know where to ask questions when I get them now.

Welcome to OFL

If you already have a tank running with fish in it put another filter on it which can then be transferred to your new tank. This will speed up your cycling or could cycle it immediately. just let us know how big the tank is, what fish you have and what second filter you can run on it
I can't get no sleep

Hello and welcome, you came to the right place.
We won't deny you any info! Rhino plecos or Pterygoplichthys scrophus max out at 10,8".
