My Name is Matthew and I live in Cape Girardeau, MO, USA. I have just recently rescued two Oscars from a local restaurant. They have been there for 2 1/2 years and were well taken care of until the staff member that cared for them quit. They have gone for two months without any tank cleaning and the main filter on the tank had quit working. I tested the water for them and it was so bad that they should have been dead!!! I purchased the whole setup from the restaurant for 125 US Dollars (63 GBP) and moved them , the water and the tank. I set it up at my house with most of the same water, purchased a new filter (marineland 350 US Gallons Per Hour w/ Dual Biowheel filtration) and began the cleanup process. The tank is 30 US Gallon and both Oscars are 11" Long. I will be buying a new tank soon but I have to nurse these guys back to health before I move them again. The Tiger is losing its color from the top down and I dont know why. I am currently treating them with Melafix and Pimafix. I will check the forums for any threads that may help. I am glad that there is a resourse like this to help. I dont know what I would have done 15 years ago.
