Hey all, love the website!!
Just purchased my first 2 O's at my LFS.
Their both 3" currently in a 180 gallon with a common pleco.
What do you guys think??

Hi OFL, tell me about it!! and i did a 25% water change this morning vacumming all his poop. It hasnt even been a full 24 hrs and his already started pooping everywhere again!!

It will only get worse as they get bigger, one reason why I don't have these fish. The only ones I would for is the bristlenose catfish, they reach about 5 inches so their faeces isn't as bad. I actually bought one yesterday, I suppose he was around 2 inches, and then to grow him a bit and then putting them in the 300 gallon tank. mind you, I think I'll need a few more if I want to keep on top of the algae.

Welcome to the site!
I have a pleco with my O's, I don't know what kind he is or how big he gets. Do most lfs take fish back for credit? I don't want a big pooping machine when it gets older. Seems they do more bad to the tank than good. Are Bristlenose catfish about the same price as plecos?

75 gal tank w/ 5 O\'s 2 Albino, 1 Tiger, 1 Red, 1 Lemon. All Juveniles. Building (1) 150 gal tank soon to be ready for spring. Hope to get a breeding pair out of the 5 I have.

Thank you Miahl71, i believe most lfs take them back. For credit im not sure.. however im leaning towards taking mine back aswell. i mean the bio load from the oscars are enough, why add to them with the pleco. the bristlenose sounds like a good idea, might give that a go and and see how it works out.

Welcome to OFL. Nice looking O's you have there. Boy Plecos sure have a bad reputation around here. I guess it all comes down to how much work you want to put into maintaining your tank. Personally I think their cool fish and I don't mind the extra work.
