I have 2 emperoer 400s on my 75 gallon tank with just one oscar around 9 inches and a year old. He keeps knocking off the intake tubes on the filters. He does this on an almost daily bases. I am a petite women only 5 ft. tall I have to stand on a stool to retrieve the intake tube and I am wet all the way up my arm lol what I would like to know is what happens if I didnt put the intake tube back on for a day or two. It still filters the water but its not strained because the bottom half is lying on the bottom of the tank.

It would still draw water from the tank, however it probably wouldn't lift debris from the bottom so you really need the pipe on there if you want it to do the job that is made for.

You could use some non-toxic glue to glue them there. Just make sure that it is safe for aquariums and that you will never need to take them off again lol.

I find the magnetic holders work much better than the typical suction cups - you could try that

Glue couold work allthough i usually put a tiny piece of ducttape between the connections.
Work like a charm.Or just tape the tubes together with ducttape, allthough that may look not too pretty

my oscar(God bless his soul) used to nip my hand once when i did a water change. i was using a small half inch hose to siphon. i gently waved the hose at him, he tried to dodge it but his dorsal and part of his body accidentally got sucked in by the siphon.. he got a pale circle mark on the dorsal bcos of that. i was laughing my head off. "now u hav 2 ocellata!".. never nipped again.

I have same problem. Sticking a piece of small wire through the pieces ended it.

Yes, that would sort it, definately.
Maybe rearrange your tank and put a large piece of decor in front of it so he wont do it again.
Give him a kick up the dorsal aswell.... LMAO
