Its happened pretty much everytime ive put salt in with him and im just wondering if i should be worried about his health? its not much salt just a pinch of Celtic Sea Salt. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

There is really no need to add salt to an Oscar tank unless you are treating for some illnesses...

So if you don't need to add it, then don't, and this will eliminate him eating it too!! LOL

for me, i use a bit of salt as normal practice.. i just dont like the idea of completely fresh water. seems too vulnerable. heheh! if u wanna use salt, i suggest that u dilute the salt in the new water first b4 u change the water. do not change the water 1st and then add salt into the tank.

I only usedd
a lot of salt in my brackinsh tank, but never in my freshwater.
Allthough it may help with the cure of ick, if i'm right.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

Yeah a 'natural' ick cure I think is salt or higher temps for a period of time...I never use salt otherwise.
