my wife had some friends over last night to play cards and after they left i was helping her clean up when i noticed a shrimp ring and seafood sauce on the table. this got me to thinking....is it ok to feed frozen shrimp to my oscars(i know they have to be thawed) and would i have to remove the shell ?

That should be fine but make sure it has not been frozen defrosted and refrozen. The shell is very nutritious so make sure and leave that on. It is like fiber for people.

Shrimp is good. Will bring the colour out too.

Also try your oscar on prawns, muscles or spratts or any other small whole fish that can be bought from a fish monger or supermarket

my O loved them ... and were acquired from a somewhat similar situation

It is funny seeing something that can stick out of his mouth. He would grab it and go sit in the corner for a while as he chewed it a little at a time. The first time I thought it was stuck in his throat because he kept it in his mouth so long.

He started expecting them and turning away food, so I haven't gave him any for a while, plus, I am vegan, so keeping shrimp around in my freezer or fridge is not my first choice. Frozen Bloodworms are sealed up enough and out of the way ... freeze dried krill can be kept with his other food. But, when they are around, it is nice to spoil the O now and then.
