If so frequent waterchanges help, the water chemistry must have been off.
Got any test results for the tank?
If waterparameters are fine, it's most likely an injury.

the hole in the head on this pic was actually a bumping injury.

Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

Benno... here is a pic of my babies a few months back. If you look at the Red Oscar, half way down his back is a spot... that came from him hitting the top of the tank. He gets them on his head all the time. I guess they are looking for food and jump at the lid for some reason. As they get bigger, they will hit that lid so hard it will open and out they go onto the floor. Lost the tiger oscar pictured for that reason. Now there is a 4x4 sitting ontop of the tank!

Hope this helps a little.

hmmm the pic yu have posted looks very similar to the grey spot
on his head he chills out under a smooth rock but must bump his head
sumtimes while chasing the black widow so i think i will re introduce him
into the big tank in 2 or 3 days just to be sure but i am getting a few
guppys to breed to in my 2ft so it all works out well cycled 2ft plus

I bet that is what it was. Don't be surprised to wake up one morning to one even bigger... the bigger they get the harder they bump!!! Some of the marks can look pretty nasty but they heal really, really fast!

Always check your levels - I check them twice weekly... just to be sure!

It is so cool watching them grow. I take pictures every month, on the first of the month. Your post made me go back and look at the pics. It is cool to look back and see how small they were.

This was taken in December - you can hardly tell the feeders from the Oscars:

This is the tank today.... (minus 1 Oscar that jumped to his death)

And remember to post them here... we LOVE pics !!!
