so. as it stands. i had to find a new prospective Pitt. [as the previous was bought the MORNING before i was able to get to the store. :angry: ]

but a desperate dash around to different local stores produced a little fella about 2" long i just couldn't say no to.

problem is. he has ick. i'm just about to do the second dosing in his hospital tank and i'm pretty convinced he hates my guts. because instead of moping sideways on the bottom of the tank like he was the first day. he actually turns his tail fin to me any time i step into the room.

my biggest concern though is that he's not eating. and since i'm going to have to move him again here shortly i don't want that move to stress him out further and this hunger strike to turn ugly. so what should i do?

i have Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets at my disposal. [which might as well be his poo for all he cares.] along with freezedried tubifex worms. earthworms. bloodworms. and krill fines.

question #1: should i try these others as enticements? or stick with the pellets?

question #2: should i wait until he acclimatizes to the hospital tank before moving him to his final home? or should i get the move over quickly?

thanks in advance!

Congrats Hun!! What are you treating the Ick with???

Moving them often causes stressed behavior... I would give him a few days to adjust after any move...

Another thing, what is in the big tank now???

thanks very much! he's a cutie. :}

the med is 'API liquid super ich cure' which dictates 48 hrs between doses. i'm just in the middle of it about to add the final dose tomorrow.

as for the big tank. it has absolutely nothing but a slightly peakish Amazon Sword. otherwise it's open space.

I wouldnt worry about the fish not eating- its a common thing when bringing a new fish home or transferring a fish to a new tank. He will settle in after a few days
I can't get no sleep

1: if you cannot even tempt him with some mealworms or earthworms, he just needs some more time to settle.The meds may have him of his food as well.
2: my oscar behaved spooked and unhappy in the hospital tank,bump the temp to get rid of the ick and then transfer him to the biggun, onces he's ick free.

i have the temp at 78-80 and he just received his last dosing today. he looks pretty well un-ick-ified now when he's swimming around and doesn't know i'm looking. :}

thanks very much for the advice!

Our Ozzie had ick when we got him. we turned the temp in the tank to 29 degrees celcius for a few days then after it fell off, gradually lower the temp back to normal.
