Hello....I was wondering if it's normal for an oscar to constitanly have sores on him. It's like he hurts himself on the rocks in the tank, like he runs into them. They heal after a couple of days but it's always occuring...is it because I need a larger tank?

I have a 55 gallon tank and he's about 4 inches. The spots look he's run into one of my lava rocks and scraped some of his gills off, they are about the size of 1/2 a finger nail. I already know I will need a bigger tank for him but is that why already?

I would ditch the lava rocks as they are very sharp. See if that is the cause before doing anything else
I have no idea why the water bill is so high

Remove any sharp objects that he may be scraping himself on
I can't get no sleep
