Hello All,
2 quick questions for everyone.
1. I have a 100 gallon tank with four 3-4 inch oscars, one 3 inch texas cichlid, one 4 inch green terror, and a five inch shovelnose catfish. Is this to many fish?
2. Do I need to add on an algae eater?

Thx for any help anyone can provide.

Joe

ok lets start with your current stock first. 4 oscars in a 100g tank is over stocked. i accept they are small at the moment but its only a matter of 2 months before they need a much larger tank to them self. then the Texas and GT are going to need some room for them self. in a 100g tank fighting is certain, as all the fish so far are territorial. that's forgetting about the cats. do you need a algae eater. NO. you need a much larger tank. adding more fish is madness. if you are gaining algae its cos your nitrates will be high. adding any more fish will mean even higher nitrates and more problems. if you are certain you want to keep all these fish, start looking for a 300g tank. fast.

i aggree with marcus, but wouldt like to add that a tiger shovelnose alone will be enough reason to get a 300Gl tank.
Do not add any fish before you upgrade!
beware you got some very fast growing fish in your tank allready.

You will need to get a massive tank. Decide how big a tank you are going to get and we will tell what fish you will be able to have.

Texas and GT are real aggressive fish so dont be surprised if you get a lot of bullying with them. Shovelnose's get HUGE
