I took the first photo 3 days ago and the 2nd less then an hour ago. I just wanted to show how quickly even severe injuries heal if you have good water quality. I also should mention that when I see a really nasty gash or cut I do a 50% water change and add freshwater aquarium salt and stress coat followed bu a 25-35% water change every other day. I use to freak out when my oscars would have little cuts and now I am confident that even more severe injuries will heal quickly and with good water quality and some preventative measure little to no chance of infection.

I wholeheartedly agree, Oscars are very good healers when the conditions they live in looked after properly.

mines had a few bumps and scrapes from orniments in the tank and atacking them and i was shoked at how quick they heal compared to the angel fish i have downstairs

Too bad we can't heal so fast

I find all but the most severe injuries heal within a couple days to a week. My O's split lip took a bit longer than that ... and several months to get where it is virtually un-noticeable.

Water change, I already use StressCoat, with water changes (but up the does like it says on the bottle), usually add some MelaFix and PimaFix for preventive against secondary infection, and Aquarium Salt if I have some extra around.

Oscars have an awesome metabolism

mine pick sum injuries from time to time and i just add sum salt and generally they heal within 3 to 5 days
