I've had my oscars for almost a year. One of them got hole in the head and popeye. He or she is seems to be gasping for air and almost motionless on the bottom of the tank. I have treated them for these conditions with some over the counter meds from petsmart. I hate to ask this but is it time to put the fish out of it's missory or is there something else I can do?

is there any other fish but my advise would be persivere and keep the water at its most best condition you can change the water with 50% change now.

could you post your water test results and also pictures of the fish in subject then we can all try and advise the best we can. hold in there a little longer

OFL and a few others have great advise and they will help you asap

oscars are very strong fighters with illness and he will pull through with the care im sure
stick in there

I don't have a test kit I'll get it tested tommorow. I did find one issue lack of maintenance to the tank. His scales and some fins are also starting to flake or turn white almost like ICK. Here are some picts of the fish. Look in a nutshell if this fish is not going to make it, or keep suffering or kill my other Oscar I want to get rid of it. Let me know what you think.

pictures havnt work
my only advise is if you can seperate them asap.
do you have a hospitl tank at all. if you cannot get hold of one or have one then for the health of your other fish you most likly will have to let him go. if this is the only option ide sugest following the procedure which is on this site fish euthanasia.
ive used the same method befor and i feel its the best way rather than some barbaric ppl hittin them over the head

as for now keep the water prestine condition as it will benfit the others against fighting deisese they also could have some problems coming your way if the tank is hevily infected.

oo yeah add a little aquarium salt to the tank as i beleive it helps ick and wont harm the others if used at correct doseage.

It doesnt sound good for your sick fish, however i have had a fish that i thought wouldnt make it that did, and have heard other stories from people whos fish they thought would die and didnt, so dont give up just yet

While waiting to get test results, i would suggest doing a 50% daily water change and then treating with an anti bacteria treatment like myxazin. Remove any carbon from your filters

Lets us know how you get on please
