okay this might be sort of a newbie question.. but i've noticed that oscars tend to change their colours with different conditions. at times their white banding will be very visible and other times bcoms dark. wat is the main cause of this? does it mean its stressed out if it darkens, or its the other way round? or it depends on the environment..?

any similarity in RDs..?

i find that with my O he changes to a browninsh yellow when hes in a playful/mischevious mood or when his tummy is full.

Mine gets all dark and black looking when he is irritated with the plant in the tank or when he decides to chase around the JD. He gets really bright and red when it is feeding time.

in the wild the colour adapting possibilities in ocsars are mainly camouflage.
It helps them blend in whit the backgrounds.
Here my tiger in the hospital tank:

quite a difference, eh?
there's lots of external factors that induce the change in colour.
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!

haha noddy, mine does the opposite, dark when he is chillin, white when hes hungry or shitty!

environment, mood, and water quality always affect the oscar colors....
but healthy one will always sport a vibrant colors....
