Hey guys got a question? One of my oscars, the red oscar has stoped eating. He has not ate since this Tuesday. The other oscar is still eating fine. I rearanged the tank last Thurdday to give them more room to swim as they are getting bigger, did this cause this, or am I feeding them to much. I feed them three pellets each in the morning, then in the evening as a treat I rotate between, krill, flakes and frozen brine shrimp, and beef liver. Sunday my wife fed them some brine shrimp and they were two fairly good size pieces, did that do it?
Also I know you all are going to ask about the water parameters, the tank has good biological filitration and has been fully cycled, the other tank mates, two plecos are acting awsome. I do 20% water changes with gravel vac every three days. Thanks
Brad

Oscars can go days without eating just because they feel like it. It could be that they are holding out for something better to eat, they are upset at you rearranging the tank or they are just being lazy. Mine went 6 days without touching a bite after I moved everything around in their tank, adding driftwood and a plant. I enticed them with some live feeders and that stopped the hunger strike! Trust me, he wille eat!

Is your water quality good? Can you test for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.

Also how big is the tank and what tankmates do you have?

What filtration do you have?
I can't get no sleep

Yes I have water test kits. I have had the Tank sice Febuary. It is a 75 gallon tank with two oscars and plecos. My filtration is two emperor 280 with biowheels that work awsome. I also have an air stone for extra oxygen. The water parameters are this if you are curious. Nirtate .20, which there are some found in my tap water, which is soft water. Nitrite is 0, ph is 7.o and amonia is always at .25 or less. These are results I recoreded today. Hope you can tell me somthing good lol.

your water parameters seems to be perfect but the .25 ammonia is worrisome.
even if your tap has it, it should have stabilized after a while....
nevertheless, rearranging the decor sometimes make the fishes sulk...
and oscar sometimes go without food for a few days for no apparent reason.

just keep an eye and update us....

Thats the only test kit, the amonia that I don't have the good one yet, it is a dip stick, so I don't really trust it. All the other test are the ones were you take water and add drops. I am going to get and amonia test kit tomorrow at pet store.
