dont know how bad your oscars tail is but if the water quality is good then it should grow back pretty quickly. you would need to find out what has caused it so it doesnt happen again

agreed, find the source of the injury.

also, can you get a picture?

on a lighter note, maybe you have the first double tail oscar ... my double tail betta would be jealous.

if its in two halfs i dout it would grow back as one but heal as two.if you think about it will heal the open wounds first and if its split wont it heal along the open edge of each split. with it being constanly moving it carnt realy join and heal. unless u taped it up hahah.

abit like if you realy gash you leg and a big flap of skin hangs off and constantly moves it wont heal as normal leg one bit would always flap abaout

hel still surive but have a custom tail haha

Fish fins do grow back when they are damaged as long as the damage doesnt go right down to the root. However it may take a longer time to heal a split fin that a fin that has been damaged all over
I can't get no sleep

drew ... I agree and disagree ... when my O split his lip, the open edges healed, then healed up to where it looks normal now ...

but, I have seen some sick stuff where people cut up fish to make them look different and sell them for more money ... horrible practice and those people should be 'modified' the same way

I will stop before I get really angry thinking about it. A DT Oscar would be cool if it didn't have to come from pain though.

i think sometimes when fish grow fast they split their fins! my pleco often gets split fin but it heals in 1 day and he is gowing fast! 4.5" now! the case is same with Tiger(my oscar) also! though he split his dorsal fin only once.
100 US Gallon Tank - 1 Tiger Oscar (Tiger);
1 Common Pleco

30 Gallon Tank - 4 Angels (1 Veil Tail, 1 Albino, 2 Marble)
