My Oscar at 8 inches would put 2 or 3 earthworms in her mouth at one time..... And they LOVE worms

Or get a worm farm and feed them food scraps or newspaper as a bonus you get worm casings for your garden

Earthworms have earth in them and this gets expelled through the gills when an oscar eat them sometimes making the tank look cloudy for a short while. If you dont like this then chop the ends of the worm off and run your finger along the worm to remove the dirt- this is a messy business

Worms are great for your fish. I feed my Oscars worms quite often, and they love them. If your fish is seven inches you can leave them whole. I usually rinse them off before feeding to keep the dirt out of my tank.

I have been breeding red earthworms on a small scale for my Oscars with good success so far:

And since they dont grow to big they are perfect bite sized snacks for my little monster.

Oddly enough no poo, hahah. Just some potting soil, worms I bought from the local bait shop and whatever food waste my kitchen produces stuff like veggie and fruit leftovers. It is easy and cheap and starting it up does not cost you a arm and a leg, and the internet is filled with nice reference material for raising them and breeding them: www.thewormdude.com/category/worm-blog/ or homeschool.priswell.com/worms.htm

Red worms breed about 50% faster then normal earth worms and they mature a lot faster and they are excellent decomposers of soil or whatever you put into the soil. Here is a article about them: www.happydranch.com/articles/Red_Worms.htm

It depends on how big you need them to be to feed your fish really so it is up to you really. But it takes 32 days for the eggs to hatch and about 8 weeks before they can breed and become mature. So if you breed enough you will never run out if you feed your fish these worms once or twice a week.

You weren't doing anything else anyway…
