This is perfectly normal and you will probably find he gets his red/orange colour later in life. Not sure about the reason for this but iv seen them before some fish retailers like to call them marble Oscars.....LOL

Tiger O`s also get white stripes when the get excited, scared , or aggressive. When he gets used to his new tank he will settle down. I believe that the white stripes are the reason why they are called Tiger Oscars. I have one that is nearly 10in. Whenever I feed him live food his colors change from black and red to white striped.

x2.
This is what Shannnon is talking about, here's my new Tiger still in the quarantine tank:

and this is the same fish, when she just got introduced into the big red's territory:

and the last one is the way he looks now, all settled in and feeling at home:

this is a normal way of an oscar o blend in with the surroundings, and in a tank, different moods will display different camouflage.
Can we see a picture of your oscar?

on the other hand the crossbreeding of colours in oscars has led to very different patterns and colourings.
Here's a nice example of a black and white oscar:

if yours is still a baby there's no way of telling what he'll look like as an adult.

The white and black stripes will become the background colours of your fish (if you look at pics of bigger tigers the background sometimes has 2 shades). You oscar will develop his colours as he grows
