For those of you who read my introduction, I was in the process of working on building a hood for my tank, and restoring the stand. Well, it's all done and here are the pictures!

ABOVE: Before everything was redone. No hood, stand was in terrible condition. Wood looked like garbage. No lunar lights on the tank.

ABOVE: The full tank, I sanded and re-stained the stand a dark walnut color. We built the hood out of pine. Turned out awesome.

ABOVE: My Red Oscar (9") and Tiger Oscar (10")

ABOVE: My juvenile Red Oscar (4")

ABOVE: The tank with the R2 Solution Extreme LED Tube lunar lights on. Bad picture, hard to take in the dark. Looks AMAZING in person though.

Overall, I am happy with the results. I bought the tank used months ago. Has some scratches in in glass. Some very superficial, some deep. As soon as I move and am forced to do a full water change, I'll take care of the scratches. I'm also considering doing a DIY 3D background. What do you guys think? Not sure how hard it is. Either way, I'm happy with it for now, and so are my Oscars. Eventually I'm gonna have to get another tank because the baby will grow and there will be some overcrowding issues I'm sure. It's a 125, but this is all I can afford at the time. Enjoy!

Great job.

It looks like a different tank/stand. I love the LED night lights...I can see you do too. I leave mine on while the regular lights are on alot too..It adds some blue spotlight coloration to the tank.

Thanks, Nikki!

Yeah, Johnny, the LED lights were probably the best aesthetic investment I've made for any of my aquariums in a while. Very relaxing to watch how the fish slow down at night and just kinda drift around in the water. It also gives me a chance to actually watch my plecoes in action too. I think I'm gonna get some of the lunar lights for my Green Terror tank too.

That's what i said when i tried to take pics of my blue LED nightlights.
I believe you, and it's indeed very hard to catch the actual thing on camera!

just remember you'll probably be the only one ever to see the scratches.
Anyone else will be looking at your fish, not at the glass.
My big tank has some scratches but i try not to focus on them...

I'm also considering doing a DIY 3D background. What do you guys think? Not sure how hard it is. !

You decide for yourself if it's hard.

btw i bet your fish love the new aquascaping, i know i do!
Does the pleco actually reside in the cave?
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!
