Feeder fish of any kind are to be avoided IMO. Even if you raise them yourself and they are perfectly healthy they are still very, very poor nutritionally. So why bother?

I wouldn't say they cause HITH...water quality is the most common culprit.

Feeders also don't have any affect on coloration, either. Krill and pellets are the way to go for that as both contain carotenoids.

It's up to you, but again, you're taking undue risks for no gain whatsoever.

Iv said it before and I will say it again..feeders are fine as long as they are fed very occasionally and no large goldfish...guppies or platies are ideal

Feeders dont lead to HITH...poor water quality leads to HITH

Accept the fact some people use feeders because I know for sure once mine are big enough they will be getting a couple of live guppies each per week.

Are you trying to pee people off with your "feeders are the leading cause of HITH"??

You cant make a statement like that for the simple reason.....its not true

i concur with noddy...gold fish is more dangerous... but fish without food
is not good either.... so it really boils down on the owner's
preference....

i always get some guppy for my aro... that makes him hunt at night time
but with some other kind of foods for supplement... and he is getting
huge everyday....

If you feed feeders bought from a shop there is a chance of introducing disease. If you breed your own then feeders can be fed to oscars (but not goldfish). Oscars natural food doesnt include many fish. If they were fish hunters they would be torpedo shaped. So if you feed feeders do it infrequently and either from your own stock or from bought fish you quarenteed fpr 2 weeks

Years ago I bred convicts and fed some to my oscars- i felt so guilty that i couldnt do it again. Also given the foods available for oscars feeding feeders to them is unecessary and i think cruel
