The title was to get your attention. When i feed my Oscars my tiger Oscar jumps out of the water and hits it head on the lid of my tank, or on the automatic feeder (i have a automatic feeder, i press the feed button and it dumps in some food, it saves time!) but the point is, there is a white spot developing on the oscars head and on it's side, i have figured out a way to get it to stop jumping, but how can i heal this white spot?. My Oscars are getting huge, they are both 5 1/2 inches now.

If the injury is caused by trauma than it should hear that perfectly okay. Please post some pictures

If the injury is a physical injury from damage then as long as your water is good the unjury will heal quite quickly

Thanks guys, I am on my wii right now, but when I get back from my martial arts class tonight i will hop on my lappy (would now, if i could) and post pics and my current water readings. I know the injury is caused by physical contact.

So today when I turned on light for my Oscar tank I noticed my tiger Oscar is missing a lot more scales than usual, I have pictures this time and I will post the water readings.

the stuff behind the oscar are bubbles

readings, 120 hardness, 80 alkalinity, 6.8 ph, 0 amonia, 0 nitrite, I had to move the tank about 2 weeks ago1, just thought i should mention that.

looks like scraping injuries to me, do you have any sharp coral like objects or 'rough' rocks in the tank? When there are other oscars in the tank (as you are most certainly aware) there are alot more injuries due to fighting, chasing around the tank, etc.

If it really seems like a reoccurring problem that is bothering you I would just remove the automatic feeder for the time being and see if that helps.

Did you test nitrates too? I don't think you need any meds or anything for healing but you do want water in tip top shape when injuries are healing...

I have a big chunk of red lava rock in the tank, but I have never seen the Oscar scraping against it, I see them fight all the time though.

well I would say it will be happening when the lights are off or when your not watching the tank... Remove the lava rock is my advice..

To be honest lava rock is about the worst type of rock for Oscar tanks.
especially when the Oscars get bigger.

Yea, I'd remove the rock to be on the safe side. Then, if it keeps happening, you know the injuries are coming from them fighting. And, you know what we'll all say if that's the case! "Get another tank!" LOL Good luck, and I hope it all heals up.
