He needs a high quality pellet which you feed him twice a day, bloodworm can be given once a week as a treat but you really need to get him on to a quality pellet.Pellet is staple the rest is supplimentry or treats.

I would encourage you to feed him on various other types of food. Try floating pellets, shrimps, frozen fish from the fish shop, cockles, food sticks like Tetra dorimin, large krill, mealworms, crickets, earthworms etc etc. As for how much, if I was feeding pellets, I would normally drop three or four in at a time, let the Oscar eat all of them and do it again for a couple of minutes. My Oscars are nearly 9 inches now so don't be tempted to overfeed yours. I think it's easy to get paranoid about how much you feed an Oscar. To make it easy for you, just do it for two or three minutes. But like I said, don't pile a load of pellets at all at once, feed them gradually. If I'm feeling my Oscars shrimp or small fish (not live feeder fish) I normally give them three or four each. If they are fairly big, your Oscar could eat 2 quite easily in one sitting.

Vary the diet. Pellets, garden worms, maggots, lance fish, krill, defrosted prawns, meal worms, any insects you can get, muscles, any small fish from the fishmonger like spratts. Some oscar will eat peas and some wont. Once a week i feed peas and those that dont want them dont eat. Its no bad thing if they dont eat everyday as oscar are predators and in the wild they dont get to eat everyday

I feed maggots on mon and tues, worms or prawns or small fish (from the fish monger) weds, pellets thurs, fri and sat and peas(if they will eat them if not nothing) sun

I have heard of other veggies being fed but have no experience myself
I can't get no sleep

I feed my fish just once a day. I don't count how many pellets, I just put three or four in and let the fish eat it, I do that for two or three minutes. Sometimes the Oscars swim away when they've had enough, other times they want more, but they don't get it.
