OK iv owned my current pair of Oscars for around a month now and noticed they have grown alot in the last month..GREAT!

But one thing I notice now is that out of the Albino and Tiger..the tiger seems to be that little bit bigger.

This is the third pair of Oscars Iv owned (Had to re home the other pairs due to housing issues at the time) And in all three cases it has been a Albino/Tiger pair.

Each time the Tiger has grown faster than the Albino.

They both get the same food and in the same amount. I spend large amounts of time feeding them just trying to distract one fish and feed the other...When they just love to follow each other about...GREAT FUN!

Your thoughts and experiences on this?

i have had 2 Oscars from the same batch. both growing at different rates. the larger of the 2 later became the smaller of the pair funny enough.

Cool nice pic marcus..But this is the third time my tiger has grown faster than my Albino Do you think it has possibly something to do with how they are "engineered"

Like Albinos are slightly weaker than tigers? Its a general fact that any albino animal/Human Are more prone to diseases and weaknesses. Its quite interesting I think

very more than likely, as the albino has a genes defect anyway. mine( the bottom one) made 12" so they can grow to the same size as a red or tiger. what was very strange with mine was the top fish was 4" when I got it, the other 2" but bother from the same stock. the 4" fish made 6" within a few wks the other made 3". once the larger of the 2 reached 10" it slowed and the other caught up and passed it in size.

so what size are yours now? how long you had them both?

Yes I can confirm it was a female. the bottom one was my favorite. it fed from my hand, and even rolled into the palm of the hand. they were around 6-7yr old. got up one morning to find it dead. No reason, and never knew why. I replaced it with a black tiger that had a fight and broke the jaw of the other. so now both gone. i never worked out if the top one was male or female. but I think a male with a problem(infertile)

All fish are different. i have 2 albinos. The smaller one (fish 1) overtook the larger one (fish 2) and is now the biggest. However recently the now smaller one (fish 2) has started to catch up with fish 1. All Oscars grow at different rates

They are now about 7-8 inches

I have one albino oscar and one tiger oscar and my albino oscar is significantly larger than the tiger! When I say larger I mean larger, the albino is at least 7-9 inches long and a good 1-2 inches thick and the tiger oscar looks just like he did when we brought him home from the pet store.

Lets wait and see if fish 2 turns out to be female

I am secrectly hoping they are both female. I dont want 2 males as they might fight. I dont want a breeding pair, i dont want to breed them and it would break my heart to see the babies die cause i wont feed them
