So I just picked up 2 baby tiger oscars which are about 2 inches each 2 days ago. They currently reside in an 80 gallon tank along with a pleco and two small pictus's. Yes, the tank is cycled. The temp is around 77, and the water parameters are perfect. When I put them in, they seemed fine. The next morning, one had his full colors back, however the others colors were still faded. I proceded to feed them some small cichlid pellets, which were both floating and sinking. They both ate off the surface, attacking all the food I have them. Yesterday, I did the same, but they wouldn't come to the surface to eat at all. This morning, I went to feed them, and yet again they ignored the food at the surface, almost as if they couldn't see it. Today, they were still ignoring the floating pellets (or they couldn't see it). However I know that they are hungry, because all day they have been picking at scraps of the catfish food, although sometimes they would spit it back out. They would also take a bite at the occasional piece of floating food. What could be going on here? Could someone please help me, I'm worried they are going to die because they aren't steadily eating.

Ok I was thinking it might be stress...but I just thought it weird that they ate at first, and then stopped. And since they're babies, I thought that they wouldn't make it more than a few days

It can take several days for the babies to adjust to the new tank, in the new home... Give them some time.

that is what we called "new tank syndrome": a new environment;
tank that is not fully cycled; or stress due to bagging from
lfs to the new home.

keep water in tip top condition and sooner they will act normal...

Yeah they were eating a little today, so it's looking up. And yeah, I cycled the tank for about 6 weeks so that shouldn't be a problem

Dont be surprised if they act dead, basically laying on there side at the bottom of the tank. Both my oscars did that when I first got them which freaked me out (even the second time when i got my albino). After a day or 2 they are usualy fine.
