Yesterday I cam home and noticed Doug has a white spot on top of his nose. This spot does not look like ick (not little nor attached to his nose) but actually looked bleached out. Is it possible he just wore scales off pushing his sand around?

Can you post a picture please?

He more than likely hit something... And created a wound...

Thanks! Here it is - sorry for the poor resolution - but you can see the spot just above his nose - does not appear to be an open wound

It's kinda hard to tell from that picture... Keep an eye on it... If it is just a skinned nose, it will heal in a few short days with good water quality.

If it is HITH, it will take months to heal with good water quality...

Make sure your water quality is EXCELLENT!!

Agreed! He ALWAYS seems hungry! I was telling my friend the other day "Doug's always looking at me" she replied "Imagine how he feels!" lol

I abide by the 2 minute feeding rule and have been sticking with Topfin Pellets - I am venturing into the petstore this weekend for some shrimp... Any other Oscar favorites I should look for?

A varied diet is best for oscars. Maggots, worms, deforsted frozen prawns, other see foods amongst other. Check the home page, the oscar food section for suggestions
