So... I know the various opinions on feeders. I am one who gives my O's feeders... so please don't post me the hazards etc. They get feeders maybe twice a month. I recently fed them a variety of feeders... I purchased a couple of goldfish feeders, mollies, minnows and rosey reds. Various sizes too because I have the 2 Oscars (11" and 5") and the JD. The goldfish feeders were the big ones and they didn't touch them. I actually had to take them out of the tank after 5 days! They loved the other ones more. The next time I got feeders I bought just the goldfish feeders - they ate them but then for days after they were lethargic and well... blah... almost like they were sick to their stomach. The pooped more with the 2nd batch too.

The point of this post.... in your experience, are these goldfish ones more fatty then the other feeders I did? What type of live feeders to you prefer?

Lastly, I am currently breeding mollies for them so that I don't have to worry about LFS feeders.

I will stand with you untill the end of time on this matter brooksie ...

Stick with guppies and mollies. I think the smaller the fish the better and they are easy to breed at home x

as long as you are sure of the quality, i am 100% supporting you all
the way too... but should not rely purely as the main staples...

my guppies releases a bunch of fries before being consumed by the aro...
now those fries are about 1 inch in size and about to be consumed too

but his one is unique... instead of being consumed, they are growing
fast with the oscars..... from feeders to tankmates lol

I buy my oscar feeders whenever I do something dramatic with the tank so he doesnt sulk as long... when I first transferred him from a 20G to the 60G I bought 15 mosquito fish... and 5 survived.

When I moved him to add the polystyrene I bought him guppies... he plowed through the guppies in about 6 hours, but the 5 mosquito fish were again spared. I dont know if theyre just too fast or if hes decided to let them become tank mates. He goes after them a little, but not with any real enthusiasm.

If you are going to feed feeders DONT feed goldfish, stick with tropical fish like guppies and mollies etc
