TOPIC: my poor oscar

my poor oscar 1 year, 9 months ago #106242

so i got home from school this afternoon and when i went over to see my fish tank i noticed my oscar was hiding in some driftwood. This was unsual for me cause he is always swimming around everywhere hoping to get fed(like all oscars).

when he saw me he came out from his hiding spot and his fins had been chewed up not just his tail like everything. i know the fish that did this it was my yellow lab. my yellow lab has always chased him and attcked him and today he went to far tommorrow morning im giving him away. anyway just thought id share that so im not very happy at the moment hope my oscar will make a full recovery.

all fins will heal nicely given pristine waterconditions, as long as the base of the fin is not bitten off.
this is my red last xmas, after being attacked by my vieja Synspillum:

within a few weeks all was back to normal.
That is with the bully being removed the next day as well.

Don't worry about it man. The only thing you can do is keep the water nice and clean to help him heal and not make the same mistake again.

P.S. that is why African cichlids should not be kept with American cichlids
